Welcare is the practical expression of the churches of Southwark Diocese concern for families and children
WELCARE is a local charity, working with families in need through poverty, isolation, family breakdown or homelessness. Their aim is to help families with problems before they reach the stage of requiring Local Authority intervention. They provide practical support, such as toys, clothing and counselling, through volunteers and social workers. Our rep. is Rona Bingham.
The local branch is partly financed by contributions from the churches in the Deanery.
Welcare House in Redhill is the parent and children centre for the work and is staffed by three social workers, secretarial staff and many volunteers. It offers service to all families in need regardless of race, gender, creed, marital status or disability.

Rona Bingham WELCARE
I WOULD LIKE to give a big THANK YOU to the members of the Church Family who have passed on to me children’s clothing for WELCARE. This is an ongoing issue, and any clothing suitable for children from newborn to eight years would be very welcome, plus school uniform for the older child. One of the staff looking at my last delivery, lifted out a party dress, and said €˜I know just the little girl this will fit’.
Last year you responded wonderfully with Toys and Gift vouchers for the Toy Service. We will be holding one again this year on the first Sunday in December, the Family Service, so please make a note in you diaries and on your calendar. Further information will follow.
Thank you so much for your support.
