Regulations for the mandatory wearing of face masks in public spaces have now been removed. We are therefore no longer required to wear them in church whilst seated for services or whilst standing to sing. However, you may wish to consider the voluntary wearing of a mask when mingling before and after services and we will also for the time-being continue to keep good ventilation in the church (so do wrap up warm).

We welcome the Bishop of Croydon at the 6pm service this Sunday. Please pray for him, and for the candidates being baptised and/or confirmed: Gabrielle Hebrank, Jaimie Dick, Gary Hunt, Cathy Hunt, Luke Markham, Tim Dullaway. Please note this service won't be streamed live online but we do hope to make it available on request via a private link for those unable to be there.

BOSS will be joining the Baptism Service on Sunday evening to support our friends being baptised and confirmed. So we won't be meeting in the hall but please do come along in support (the service will finish slightly later at around 7:30pm).
Update of Directory of Contact Details for Church Members

We are excited to announce that we are launching a digital directory for church members! This has all the benefits of the printed directory but is accessible anywhere, from any device, and is always up-to-date. To access the directory, all church members will be sent a separate email inviting them to join, so look out for this over the coming days.

The information we have on record for you is already organised in your profile; but it remains private until you choose to share it. After you accept the email invitation by clicking the link, you will be able to choose exactly what personal and household information you would like to share with other church members. It will only be accessible to others in the directory.

To access the directory at any time you can visit in any web browser. Those who do not have an email address will not be able to access the online directory but don't fear, we will also be printing a paper copy for any who would like one. To see more detailed step-by-step instructions to join the online directory please click here.
Join with churches across the country for a month of mission leading up to Easter this year.

Refugees and Asylum Seekers
Since last November Copthorne Effingham Hotel has been providing accommodation for Afghan refugees (mainly families) and Copthorne Gatwick Hotel has been accommodating asylum seekers from the Middle East, Africa and Latin America, a third of which are families. In total almost 600 people are waiting to be processed by the Home Office and hosted by our neighboring village Copthorne.

The Vicar at Copthorne has some experience in this type of situation and has been liaising with the hotel management to assess the particular needs of individuals and families. The needs of each family or individual are very different and some are more urgent than others. Whilst they have warm accommodation, food and a little money, many have needs that are not being met. The church in Copthorne has set up an appeal for financial donations which will help with the personal and essential needs of the refugees and asylum seekers. The Vicar will personally assess the needs and apportion the funds appropriately.

If you feel able and would like to support this appeal, donations can be made using the following link:
Use the drop-down menu under the heading FUNDS and select ASYLUM SEEKERS AND REFUGEES FUND. Thank you.

As part of the Living in Love and Faith process within the Church of England, join us for the rescheduled discussion morning on Saturday 12th February at 10-12 in the church hall.

Everyone welcome.

Contactless Giving at St John's
St John’s joined the Diocesan Contactless Giving Project in 2021 and a device to receive donations by Debit or Credit card is available at St John’s for any who wish to use it. Card holders know the limit they can give with cards, but more than that limit can be given using a PIN. We encourage and are grateful to members who give regularly by bank transfer or standing order, but the contactless device is available for anyone who wishes to use it, whether they are a member or not. Users of the device will be given opportunity to sign a Gift Aid declaration if they do not already have one in place. This increases the value of a contactless donation by 25%.

If you require any more information please speak with Phil Tadman or Chris Saunders. Thank you for your financial support of St John’s.
Dear Lord: I am ready to follow you courageously today but give me the strength I need to do this. Help me not to forget you nor turn from your ways, but that all I do would be done by your power and for your glory. We ask for the groups and services this weekend to be so helpful for people as you build faith, build your church, and reach out to others. Amen.
