The evacuation from Dunkirk in 800 vessels of 338,226 military personnel was concluded on this day in 1940. We give thanks for the bravery of all involved in that mission and acknowledge the threat from a truly evil enemy they faced then and for years thereafter while seeking to protect these shores and our way of life. Lord whatever the diplomatic/ political intricacies of the Israeli versus Hamas hostilities in Gaza let your blessings fall upon your chosen people at this time. If it be your will may peace ,in that almost constantly troubled land, be soon in the coming. Closer to home let the prayer meetings today be full, faithful and open events : 0645-0730am and 7.30-8.30 pm as well as Women on Wednesday (9.30-11am) and Watercolours on Wednesday (2-4pm).
