Let us remember and seek the Lord’s hand upon those suffering serious illness and for those who care for them. Likewise we pray for the bereaved ,particularly if some feel even more downcast as the majority embrace fine weather and a holiday mood. We give thanks for the provision of medical facilities , often under great pressure, as they continue to provide assistance 24/7. Father we pray for scientific progress in curing diseases that blight ,even extinguish ,lives across the globe. Thank you Father for the ability of some to understand the science involved in developing treatments that relieve suffering ,perhaps afford a complete cure , for diseases that have plagued society, often for centuries. May, we pray, scientists with these skills only use their expertise for the common good. Similarly we pray that pharmaceutical companies fund wide ranging research not simply those projects based primarily on reaping huge profits.
