Sad News About the Marylebone Project

The Marylebone project will be closing at the end of September this year. We have supported the project for many years through our World Mission Gift Day. Unfortunately, the project has built up a loss of £2 million over the past 4 years, and sadly, the Church Army can no longer afford to support it. Attempts for the Westminster Council to take it over have failed because of the level of investment needed to upgrade the buildings.

Every effort is now being made to resettle the 93 women currently being supported by the project. We give thanks that for almost a century, women have found safety there and a chance to rebuild their lives. We give thanks for the hundreds of women who have been helped and the staff who have worked tirelessly to support them.

We have been asked to pray that the remaining 93 women will find a safe and stable place to move on to and for wisdom and compassion for the staff as they walk alongside the women during this transition.
