Lord, you know the hopes of the helpless.
Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them.
You will bring justice to the orphans and the oppressed,
so mere people can no longer terrify them.

Church Weekend Away 2027
We hope you already have the weekend of 9th – 11th July 2027 in your diaries. But if not please mark it as we are very much hoping that as many of the church family as possible will be able to join us at Ashburnham for a wonderful church weekend away with lots of fellowship, fun, and opportunities to grow together as disciples of Jesus. We are delighted that David and Clare Heath-Whyte will be joining us to help us better know the Bible and the lives of disciples who went before us.
David is the team rector of the Morden Team Ministry and leads St Lawrence's Morden and Clare is a published author, having written several Christian biographies.
If you want to find out more about what a weekend away involves, please contact Lindsey in the office.

East Grinstead Foodbank
1. We need Food! 🍞 Donate online at givetoday.co.uk please 💚

We are really struggling with plummeting donation levels – but doing our best to continue to serve local people in need. We have just passed the point of giving OUT £6,000 more food stock than we have received IN this year!

Givetoday.co.uk is our easy online food donation platform (to donate money, click here). Donations are delivered straight to our door! Of course, we still love collecting food from our baskets at Sainsbury's, Waitrose and Lidl. If donating this way, please download the bankthefood app to see what we need. Donations can also be dropped off at the Jubilee Centre. Thank you so much!

2. We need Your Help! 🤝

We have two highly rewarding volunteer positions to fill:

⭐ Monday team – Reception / Laptop Operator role:

As our first visitor contact point, you will provide a kind, compassionate welcome and support the Team Leader with administration throughout our busy sessions.

⭐ Wednesday team – Reception / Warehouse role:

You will feel like you are making a real difference as you use your empathy and listening skills while chatting to our visitors, or get busy in the warehouse packing bags.

4. We need Prayer! 🙏

As we seek to alleviate hunger today by providing emergency food, please pray for hearts to be moved to donate food for those in need. Please also pray to end hunger forever through just systems and support for everyone who needs it.

God’s call in Micah 6:8 – to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly – is about supporting people when they are in crisis and seeking justice by influencing people in power, while serving one another humbly and inclusively.

May the message of the Bible be faithfully proclaimed at St John’s this weekend. May your people be encouraged as they sing and pray to you. Stir up our hearts to put our faith in you and may the truths of your Word bring real joy and peace and hope to people’s lives. Amen.
