Funerals & Thanksgiving Services
Alan Mathers, who used to attend church here, died on Christmas Day. There will be a Thanksgiving Service at St John's in Copthorne at midday on 23rd January. Alan's son, Richard, would like to invite anyone who knew Alan to attend the service and the wake afterwards, at Old House Inn, Effingham Rd. Every pound will go straight towards our front-line work offering accommodation and support to those who have fallen through the cracks, for whatever reason. Sadly those cracks seem to be getting wider not smaller if anything. Christmas here was largely a joy. We had a couple of great parties with the residents and service-users which were beautiful chaos, and we fed around 70 on the 25th itself with a full Christmas lunch. One guy in the hostel said he's had the best Christmas ever and it was like being surrounded by a family he's never had.
