Fundraising for St John the Divine Felbridge Online giving
As we look around week by week, we are grateful that God is blessing and using St. John's to reach people with the good news of Jesus Christ. Consider for a moment the size of the congregation and the various activities associated with the church. It will not surprise you that running a church costs a lot of money, currently around £1,500 per week. If you want to know more about how we use this money, ask for a copy of our brochure on TRIO € "The Responsibility Is Ours.
We rejoice and praise God that the financial needs of St. John's have been met in the past through the church members' giving. As Christians, we have a responsibility before God in how we use all entrusted to us. This includes money, and as partners in the work of the gospel, we have a collective responsibility to ensure that the church's costs are adequately met.
The church can claim 25% of the gift back as a tax refund(1).
There are several practical methods of giving, but the majority of St. John's members give to the church in one or more of the following ways: Direct Debit or Standing Order [Link to standard form for completion] in favour of St. John's Church, Felbridge. Payments can be made monthly, quarterly, or annually. Contact the Church Treasurer by email or ask at the Vicarage Office.
Cash gifts during services, with or without an envelope. Note: Using an envelope (available in church) for one-off gifts enables the offering to be included within the church's tax reclaim and makes it worth almost 30% more! For those who wish to set aside a weekly amount to bring to church, a pack of 52 envelopes can be obtained from the Church Office.
For further details about giving to St. John's, please talk to the Church Treasurer or Churchwardens, who will be happy to answer any questions.
- (With a basic rate of Income Tax of 20%, gifts are grossed up by multiplying the amount you give by 100 divided by 80). For Higher rate and additional rate, relief is given by increasing your basic rate band and higher rate band by the grossed-up amount of your gifts. In most cases, if you pay tax at the higher or additional rates (40% or 50%)

Contactless Giving at St John's
St John's joined the Diocesan Contactless Giving Project in 2021, and a device to receive donations by Debit or Credit card is available at St John's for any who wishes to use it. Cardholders know the limit they can give with cards, but more than that limit can be given using a PIN. We encourage and are grateful to members who give regularly by bank transfer or standing order, but the contactless device is available for anyone who wishes to use it, whether they are a member or not. Users of the device will be given the opportunity to sign a Gift Aid declaration if they do not already have one in place. This increases the value of a contactless donation by 25%.
If you require any more information, please speak with Phil Tadman. Thank you for your financial support of St John's.
