Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:9-10\nFather God, eternal father of peace, help us to wholeheartedly submit to your will for our lives and the lives of those we love. We ask you to help us to grow in you, bearing the fruit of the spirit and honouring you in everything that we say and do today.

But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15\nFather God, may we and the members of our households serve you today. Empower us Lord with love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, so that we may share the good news of your love by our example to others.

Dear Lord: You are the Good Shepherd, and it is you who is leading and keeping your people through these days. We ask that our services and groups this weekend would lift people’s hearts to you and encourage us all in our faith. We ask for new people to join this Sunday whether children, youth or adults and as they do please be drawing them to yourself and to receive the salvation you offer to all. Amen.

Father, we remember, as we pray, the long line of those who have gone before us, faithful servants all. Today, in 325AD, the bishops in Asia met for the First Council of Nicaea. May we pray for the same strength of conviction that those early church fathers had and for the church today to be clear and steadfast in its commitment to the one and only true message brought to us by Jesus. We pray for our Connections event at 2 pm and give thanks for technology as St John’s Online reaches beyond the parish at 8 pm.

Today, we hold our church stewardship up for the Lord’s guidance and blessing as we meet for the Annual Parish Church Meeting (APCM) this evening. Father, we seek wisdom and guidance as the church reviews its business from last year and sets an agenda and budget for the next. We pray that these aims will align with the next incumbent’s views when he is inducted later this year for open and free discussion in the meeting, harmony, and consensus among the fellowship.

Faith groups have not always been supportive and understanding of each other as you Lord taught us to be with “aliens” in our midst to be treated as we ourselves wish to be. We acknowledge the behaviour, often regrettably led by Christians, against your chosen people, the Jews, including numerous Pogroms. Today, in 1370, Jews in Brussels were attacked, massacred and expelled. We pray for peace and understanding, if not harmony, in that which continues to be a volatile and unforgiving world.

Let us lift to you, Lord, all who seek to enhance worship to you in our corporate meetings. We pray especially for the Music Team rehearsal this evening. Please bless those preparing services and preaching your Word so that each may be clear and true.

Lord, we open our Glebe Café this morning from 10 to noon. May all who seek solace and refreshment, both physical and emotional, receive it today. Thank you, Lord, for those volunteers who enable such service to be available. Likewise, we pray for the young people who attend church clubs this evening. May you be with them and the leaders as all seek to learn and appreciate more about you.

As many welcome the weekend and respite from work and school or the stresses of the examination room, let us remember and pray for the many who work day and night in the retail, hospitality, and entertainment industries, as well as those in the emergency and vital utility industries. Lord, we thank you for your omnipresent presence surrounding us all at every moment, awake or asleep, happy in spirit or not.

Dear Lord: You are the God of hope. Fill us with all joy and peace in believing so that by the power of the Holy Spirit, we may abound in hope. Bind us together in unity and perfect love, enabling us in the week ahead to forgive each other and demonstrate your love to others through everything we do and say.
