Dear Lord: May the message of the Bible be faithfully proclaimed at St John’s this weekend. May your people be encouraged as they sing and pray to you. May the Holy Spirit be at work in all ages of our church family. And may Jesus your Son be glorified in all we do. Stir up our hearts to put our faith in you and may the truths of your Word bring real joy and peace and hope to people’s lives. Amen.    ::  Prayer

Monday 01 September 2025
"I am the way, the truth and the life". Amid the clamouring voices that surround us and the busyness of life, help us to remember Jesus's words. There is no other name by which we must be saved. We pray for those on our hearts, that they may come to know and love the Lord.    ::  Prayer

Tuesday 02 September 2025
We pray for the Christianity Explored course starting in a few weeks time. We ask that many attend with open hearts and minds. Help us not to be afraid to bring up this possibility with others if the opportunity arises.    ::  Prayer

Wednesday 03 September 2025
We pray for St John's as Rob and family move on, for the ministry team and the PCC as they cope with inevitable changes and as they seek a youth worker, and as a new academic year starts. We give thanks for the many new couples who join us on Sundays. May they feel really welcome and already part of our church family.    ::  Prayer

Thursday 04 September 2025
We pray for the many elderly folk in the congregation who have to make a real effort to get to church, and for those unable to do so anymore. May they still feel loved, remembered and cared for. We give thanks for those who visit and support in any way.    ::  Prayer

Friday 05 September 2025
We give thanks for St Catherine's Hospice, and pray that it will get the funding it needs to employ enough staff and open all its facilities.    ::  Prayer

Saturday 06 September 2025
In an unstable world, we give thanks that Jesus is our rock in life. We are grateful for our family, friends, and especially those who have pointed us to and shown us Jesus through their words, actions, and steady faith over the years, in both good and bad times.    ::  Prayer

Dear Lord: we praise and thank you for the blessing of children in our church family. As many families get ready to go on holiday, we ask you to help them to find joy and rest in each other’s company. May relationships be strengthened and wherever we are in the world this week, help us to leave traces of your love.    ::  Prayer

Dear Lord: We thank you that all you who are weary and burdened can come to you and find rest for our souls. Help us to take your yoke and learn from you. Open our ears to your teaching and restore to us the joy of your salvation. Amen    ::  Prayer

Dear Lord: I am ready to follow you courageously today but give me the strength I need to do this. Help me not to forget you nor turn from your ways, but that all I do would be done by your power and for your glory. We ask for the services this week to be so helpful for people as you build faith, build your church, and reach out to others. Amen.    ::  Prayer

Forgive those things we have done which have caused you sadness, and those things we should have done that would have brought you joy. In both we have failed ourselves, and you. Bring us back to that place where our journey began, when we said that we would follow the way that you first trod. Lead us to the Cross and meet us there.    ::  Prayer

Dear Lord, we thank you for the blessing of food for us to eat. We thank you for the blessing of your word. Help us today to have generous hearts and to be willing to share what we have with those in need.    ::  Prayer

Dear Lord: You are the God of hope. Fill us with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit we may abound in hope. Bind us together in unity and perfect love, enabling us in the week ahead to forgive each other and demonstrate your love to others through everything we do and say.    ::  Prayer
